The 280th Anniversary of George Washington's Birth

It's no wonder today's pygmies have removed his name from the annual national holiday honoring his birth.

I suspect he modeled his behavior on that of Cincinnatus, the man most important for the survival and traditional ethics of the early Roman republic. (It's almost impossible to get anyone today to understand the huge difference between that republic and the tyrannical empire that subdued it.)

George Washington embodied both greatness and humility, the most uncommon of combined traits. This is the man whose actions and sacrifices were so significant in establishing a home offering temporal liberty for all mankind.

God bless his soul and deliver us from those who hate what he represents.
