Vanity - Los Angeles DCFS trying to take our grandson. Need attorney.
Vanity

My 8 month old grandson was born with a very serious heart condition. He has already had four major surgeries and has spent roughly half of his life in the hospital. He just came home from the hospital on Thanksgiving night.

This past Wednesday he suddenly stopped breathing. His father called 911 and the paramedics came and rushed him to the hospital. While at the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest for 12 minutes. They were able to resuscitate him using CPR, but he is now in a very deep and unresponsive coma.

Apparently, one of the doctors whom we have never met told the Department of Family Services that he has injuries consistent with shaking baby syndrome. The ICU doctors (whom we know quite well, having spent so much time at the hospital) insist that there are a lot of possible explanations besides the baby being shaken. After-all, he is not a healthy baby.

Nevertheless, DCFS is now accusing our son of shaking the baby and has revoked custody of him.

We have a hearing set for Wednesday. I have spoken with a few attorneys, but thought perhaps someone here at FR may know of someone or have some advice.

Shaken baby syndrome is flimsy science. There are a number of ways for a baby to have subdural bleeding, including CPR, which he had for 12 minutes, and blood-thinners, which he has been on his entire life.

But I'm told that when the social workers make the charge, there is little that can be done to prove otherwise.

The doctors told the social worker that patients in a coma have a much better chance when there is family nearby.

Sadly, Baby Jak spent the entire weekend in ICU alone, without his parents or grandparents. Our social worker believes her four-year degree qualifies her to practice medicine.

This is quite a situation, and we are praying with everything we've got (we greatly appreciate all of the FReeper prayers).

The Los Angeles DCFS is a rogue government agency that sticks its nose in where it needn't, and ignores the matters that are truly serious.

I don't want to have hate in my heart, but right now, I truly hate the DCFS.
