One Handgun

One worthy, stand-alone extract from Wretchard

In other news we hear that one handgun in Kenya saved 100 lives.
An off-duty member of the SAS emerged as a hero of the Nairobi siege yesterday, after he was credited with saving up to 100 lives.
The soldier was having coffee at the Westgate mall when it was attacked by Islamists on Saturday. With a gun tucked into his waistband, he was pictured helping two women from the complex.
He is said to have returned to the building on a dozen occasions, despite intense gunfire.
A friend in Nairobi said: ‘What he did was so heroic. He was having coffee with friends when it happened.
‘He went back in 12 times and saved 100 people. Imagine going back in when you knew what was going on inside.’
Calling Piers Morgan. Calling Piers Morgan.

  1. SAS guys have been known to train our special forces. Not to start any kind of a pissing match as I would not knowingly draw down on any such highly trained individuals.

Course I find little need or desire to even enter a mall, much less try to take it over.

  2. A similar operation by a organized police force or military, had they been there at the ready, would not have been so effective.

Heroism is frowned upon from above (out of sight of course) even as the medals are handed out. The captain or colonel will be thinking how close he came to losing his advancements if the outcome went the other way.

Our way of life is jeopardized by too many martinets in command, not by commoners who choose to be armed.
